Principal's Message

Dear West Oaks Wildcats Families,

Our teachers will continue to emphasize the importance of Reading, Math, Science, and Writing in daily instruction. However, we are asking you to help us meet our targeted goals. One way you can help is by encouraging your child to read at least 20-30 minutes nightly to support guided reading in the classrooms with an AR book. We have weekly AR goals and in order to accomplish this, we need students reading AR books daily!

Our MATH DASH has returned! Every Friday, classes meet to challenge other classes in their math fact automaticity! We are also challenging students to learn math facts because automaticity is needed for students to become fluent in math. We expect ALL second through fifth-grade students to be fluent with their multiplication math facts. Students have access to Reflex Math via Launch.

We CELEBRATE each and every student that meets their AR and Math Fact goals! Ask your child about their appearance on our morning announcements!

All of our students have access to a device (either iPad or laptop). Students need to handle their devices with care. Remind them not to place their device on the floor. Do not eat or drink around your device.

With FSA being around the corner, our students in grades 3-5 have a school year to accelerate their learning! Discuss with your child the importance of how they can make a difference in their lives by working hard in class, listening to their teacher, focusing on the lesson being presented by the teacher, and giving their very best. If you are struggling with how to help your child nightly with assignments, please don’t hesitate to call on us.

If you are on campus for any reason please be sure to review our data results on the walls and in the hallways. Finally, please be sure to look at your child’s “Take Home Thursday” folder to ensure they are completing all class and homework assignments.

We are in the fourth and final marking period of the school year! This has been a challenging year, to say the least. I truly appreciate all of your support, as well as your commitment to
your child's education.

Thank you for your support and encouragement!

Sincerely Yours,

Mrs. Cherie Thompson,
